Through our various dealers, Allight offer a robust range of engines, parts and – depending on location – service and technical support.
On one recent occasion, Andrew Wehrmann of AW Diesel in Adelaide, one of our key dealers, stepped up to an unlikely challenge. Andrew was asked to help Ian Baldock of Baldock Earthmoving to repower his old Galion 503.
Baldock Earthmoving purchased the Galion 503 over 15 years ago. Powered by a 62 HP international UD236 engine, the Galion 503 has seen us change key parts to improve overall functionality. For a rusted and old engine, we installed a larger twin hydraulic pump in order to have hydraulic steering with separate pumps.
Following several hours of research and pricing parts, Ian Baldock contacted Andrew and his team at AW Diesel about the possibility of a new Perkins engine. When the pricing came back, it was obvious that to rebuild the old motor VS acquiring a new Perkins engine all together, were very near in price.
Ian Baldock of Baldock Earthmoving says,
“After many hours of internet research and pricing parts, I spoke to Andrew and his very helpful team at AW Diesel about the possibility of a new Perkins’ engine. After the pricing came back, it was obvious that when comparing a rebuild of the old motor and acquiring a new Perkins engine, the prices were very close. Through conversations with Andrew, we decided on an 1100 series 1104A-44T at around 100 BHP, a big step up from the old motor. The low-down power, smooth torque curve and good fuel economy of the Perkins 1104 have been a huge improvement.”
This is a great demonstration of the services that our dealers can offer. Well done to AW Diesel and thank you for the amazing Galion 503.
